Lordsburg athlete Todd Beasley, 26, earned bronze in Running Game at the World Cup Shooting meet in Mexico City after a three way tie and shootoffs. He secured one of two U.S. Olympic spots for Seoul 1988 and trains at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs amid prior national titles and a 1986 Worlds bronze.

Serviceman Killed In One Car Accident
A twenty year old serviceman died in a one car crash on I 10 west of Lordsburg at mile marker 40. Investigating officer State Patrolman Cory Gossett said the eastbound pickup swerved off the road and rolled over twice ending on its top. The victim was pronounced dead at 5 40 am by Hidalgo Medical Examiner W S Sanders. Sheriff Lloyd Payne noted a rash of DWI cases and detoxications in the past week with about 80 percent of jail bookings alcohol or drug related. Two bookings were for marijuana possession. Bond for first offense is 355 dollars and second offense 1055 dollars.
