Bowie Oil Field Predicted To Yield World Class Structure

F L Copening, head of the Bowie Oil Leasing Syndicate, predicts a giant oil structure under Bowie tied to a long anticline from Butte to Tampico. With a rig capable of 6000 feet, drilling four miles east of Bowie has passed 700 feet in three weeks. Experts expect a gusher at about 2000 feet with 20000 to 25000 barrels per day possible. The Bowie region oil is light 64 to 66 gravity.

Mrs. E. F. Lyday presented The Death Disc and earned an encore while Miss Clayton accompanied. Clubs from Deming Gallup and Silver City contributed numbers. The party also visited Fort Bayard and Santa Rita before returning to Silver City for lunch.

Pablo Rico died after being overcome by gas in a five foot shaft he leased from the 8 company at Valedon on Friday. His assistant did not reach him in time. Judge Marsalis convened an inquest and ruled the facts as stated above.

A U S Air Service party led by Lt Harry Weddington and officials from International News Service visited Lordsburg to designate the field as a major southern air route station from San Antonio to San Diego. Local leaders Jeffus and Feenk ft. Coon hosted the reception as the field was marked for service.

SEM Child Labor Law Limits Work Hours for Minors

The new child labor law prohibits employment of children under fourteen during school hours and requires a permit for any such work. Ages fourteen to sixteen need a certificate to work during the school term. The work week for under sixteen is forty four hours with a 7 AM to 7 PM daily limit.

California highway funding for sandhills paving and mountain grade

A March travel report from U S Government records shows 214 cars to Needles, 68 to Yuma, 2577 to Yuma, and over 800000 allocated between Ki Centro and Yuma for the coming season by the California Highway Commission to complete paving through sandhills. An additional 75000 is set aside to pave the Mountain sprites grade between Ki Centro and San Diego.

Road managers outline highway work and state gas tax impact

W. T. Beeles and Frank G. Scott met with the Liberal on a Saturday morning and announced that Engineer Maker is cross sectioning the Steing-Rodeo highway in prep for resurfacing. Oversize stones on the Lordsburg-Steins highway will be placed in first close condition. Scott proposed the three cent gas tax will aid highway maintenance as Silver City becomes division head quarters after May first.
