The citizenship class from Wilson school supervised by Miss Fairly visited the Texas Louisiana Power Company on a Tuesday afternoon. They toured the display room and office, learned cord mending for an electric iron, and saw ice being made at the ice plant. The first year class made aprons from old dresses, while the second year class displayed dresses and notebooks on various subjects.

Track Meets At Douglas Feature Record Emphasis
Coach Ehrhardt and three athletes Edward Baron Chester Jordan and Marshall Fuller attended the Southern Arizona invitation meet in Douglas last Saturday. Eight schools entered the quarter mile saw Jordan finish fourth while Fuller placed eighth in the half mile. Baron placed second in the elimination races and fifth in finals. University entrants Fowler and Wind posted 518 and 224 for quarter and 220 yards respectively with no competition. A University of Arizona hurler showed proper form and all thirteen event records were erased.

Charles H. Smith longtime Southern Pacific water service employee died after a long illness Sunday night at Lordsburg hospital. He leaves his wife Mrs Ruby Doby of Gallup and a son and daughter. Funeral services were held at Heather mortuary Tuesday afternoon with burial in Mountain View cemetery. Rev M C Moore delivered the sermon and the Baptist choir provided music.

Parent Teacher Meeting Sees Virden Association Visit
The Virden Parent-Teacher Association visited Monday night for a meeting with the local group. Virden presented a one act play "Stons" and musical numbers. The 8th grade won the Yucca picture for most parents and visitors, tallying 14 parents and 10 visitors. Miss Dad gave a domestic science display, followed by refreshments in the Domestic Science room. Death of Mrs. Pearl M. Davis in Lordsburg
Mrs. Pearl M. Davis wife of Oza E. Davis died after a brief illness. The funeral was held at the Baptist church with Rev. M C Moore officiating and Jack Heather as funeral director. Burial followed at Mountain View cemetery. Born in Ware county Georgia in 1889 she married Charles L. Miles in 1919 and after his death in 1925 was survived by two children, Joyce and Charles Jr. She married Ova B. Davis in 1930 and moved to Lordsburg in 1931. She urged placing her children in the Western Baptist Orphanage and was known as a devout Christian with strong Scotch Irish roots. Pallbearers included EB 5 Christian S H Gass H H Conder P Jeffus Claude Wood and Rev Leslie Wright. Honorary pallbearers were Baptist church members and local professionals. Floral tributes were numerous.
