Mrs. James Darley and her son James Jr. of El Paso visit her father H. F. Winslow. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Bates of Steins are business visitors in Lordsburg, with Bates teaching at Steins school.
Lordsburg residents are invited to a third annual pageant titled House of HRimamoen by Giladiinior College. The event unfolds Friday night at the Desert theater on Hed Knolls 18 miles west of Safford Arizona with candle lighting and a natural open sky setting featuring biblical scenes centered on Savnan the leper prince and related figures.
A state highway order replaces concrete spillway markers with cedar posts to reduce accidents caused by tombstone style markers. Officials say removing the markers will cut crash risks and simplify channeling floodwater indicators on spillways statewide.
Ralph W Carry writes from Lovelburg New Mexico praising Drs Atetin brothers for their care of his brother Glenn Casey at Lordsburg Hospital. He thanks the doctors for their courteous service and wishes the town well.
Menus appeared at the Liberal office for the Auto Cafe which opened last Sunday in the Egon building on West Railroad Avenue. Formerly Palin's Confectionery, the shop had been closed since the purchase by Frank Mathews from Sam Gass. The interior and exterior were overhauled with new fixtures and gold leaf window signs, and the space redecorated to become a show place on Railroad Avenue.
Mr and Mrs Billings, parents of Mrs M Codding, spent Tuesday visiting in Silver City.
The County Board of Education held a business meeting at the County School Superintendent's office on Monday to discuss district matters and upcoming procedures.
Pyramid Lodge No 23 hosted a gala night with two new members received and a dozen visiting Knights from Duncan attending the banquet. Hurley Jones was made a recipient and Marvin Bradberry completed the third degree. Local Knights and guests Casey Lovett and Blackledge spoke, and the lodge earned Supreme Lodge recognition with a framed certificate presented by R. B. Ownby.
Dunagan, a well known animal ranchman, and neighbor Leslie Glover visited the Liberal office yesterday to pay a subscription. He reported that 27 Hampshire ewes had produced 42 lambs, with the entire flock averaging a similar ratio.
Mr and Mrs J R Fedrick are the proud parents of a son born Thursday morning April 17 at Lordsburg hospital.
The local Women’s Christian Temperance Union study session reviews The Liquor Problem Canada bulletin from Dominion Bureau of Statistics. It cites decline in 1944 1994 liquor use during Canadian dry years and sharp rises after government sale control, including increases in production imports consumption and drunkenness.
Victoria Araiza and Raphael Hernandez were found guilty by a jury in Hiettich court here for the murder of mine official Lyman Garrett at Viledon on February 4. The verdict includes a death penalty there is no sentence until Ratordsay Pique Hivera is apprehended. Judge Cort P. Pwinston presided with District Attorney W. T. The Shell Oil Company announces practical completion of a 26 000 barrel tank and the start of a smaller tank for wholesale and retail business. Manager Henry Nix and W Hampoon of the Shell Gem-Paty join as the plant proceeds, signaling a community building expansion.

Fire of unknown origin last Friday night caused about 250 dollars damage at the Nacarate Shoe Shop. The blaze was spotted around midnight and extinguished by firefighters with little structural damage. Water in the shop room did most of the damage while merchandise and soda water stock suffered. No insurance was carried on the business or goods. Mr and Mrs George Hanner returned Tuesday from a trip to California including San Bernardino.
The Baptist Woman's Missionary Society met with Mrs Frank Corbell Wednesday afternoon for Lesson Study Service with Mesdames Weigle Winslow Clayton Darley Jones and Corbell. Ice-cious refreshments were served.
