At Lansburg High School a Road-e-o hosted by Driver Training and the Mexico State Police featured four driving tests. The event included parallel parking steering and obstacle courses with a written rules examination.
Lalo Sanchez attends regional meetings of Mexican Sheriff and Police held in Clovis on April 9. Chavez leads the organization and will conduct sessions at Las Cruces and Bin Las Vegas. Sheriff Webster directs Curry County events with Captain Zimmy Clark noted.
Farrell Lines of Virden is chosen as a New Mexico representative to the National 4-H Encampment. The group includes four 4-H members from New Mexico and other states and territories. Delegates will visit the White House and tour sites near the Capitol while learning from government officials.
Hidalgo County Old Timers Association officers met with president Harold Scofield to set tentative plans for the Annual Old Timers Celebration linked to the Hidalgo County Fair. The dinner is September 20 with a parade on September 21 themed The Gay Nineties. committees include Entertainment chaired by Brown Cohen and Brooks, Parade chaired by Harbor Heather, Banquet chaired by Mertice Obituaries and Ribbons by Bethel Fuller.

Emmet Glasson age 16 and A. J. Glasson age 17 sons of Arthur Glasson were injured when their car overturned on the old Animas road about a mile and a half north of Animas. Emmet sprained his right ankle while A. J. suffered head lacerations requiring many stitches after being thrown through the windshield. They were not found until 8:30 the next morning. Paul Malott and Keith Morris were en route to Animas at the time.
The Senior Band will perform for the public in the High School Study Hall at 8:00 PM on Saturday April 21.

Sonny Madrid, a straight A sixth grader in Mrs. Staub’s class, won the Elimination Contest in Lordsburg and will travel to El Paso on April 27 to enter the Regional Spelling Bee. He competes against seventh and eighth graders, reflecting strong schoolwide spelling effort.
Lordsburg loses 14 to 15 to Columbus in a well played opener. Starter Morales held Columbus to three runs through five, but the sixth inning saw the lead slip and Galvan Ramirez finish the game. The manager praised the team’s effort and depth as young players continue to show promise.
The Senior Class expresses gratitude for a $50 donation received from J W Jones Construction Co. The contribution supports school activities and events coordinated by the class.
A crew started grading Monday for curb and gutter installation on Sixth Street west to Penn and extending to Fifth Fourth Third and Second Streets. Streets east to Ownley will receive grading curb and gutter, with Main Street left open to bring in materials.
EF S Bowman retires as Superintendent of Banner Mine after five years in Lordsburg New Mexico He previously led the Bormey Manila operation renamed Banner Mine in 1935 Bowman and wife have four sons with roles in the mining business Creighton Allen and Frank Bowman hold management positions while Grant Bowman works with Dow Chemical in Boulder Dam Colorado.
Paul Probert was elected president of the Hidalgo County Safety Council for a one year term at the regular monthly meeting. Other officers include Ed Jackson as vice president Dick Rice secretary treasurer and several heads for traffic school publicity farm and ranch statistics homes industry and fire prevention. State safety director Frank Martin attended to assist organization as councils aim to start a game drive soon.
