The Lordsburg Lions announce a charity sale starting April Mth at 9:30 am to aid blind artisans. Proceeds go to the blind workers funds and local athletic programs with a main staple item and a wide range of allied products including dust mops brushes and door mats.
Youngjohn of Silver City takes over managing the market this week. Mrs. Robert Clark and family plan to make their home in Gila while continuing farming interests. The Youngjohns will reside at the motel temporarily until settling in.
An abandoned car north of Lordsburg was investigated by Chief Sanchez. The vehicle had been oil changed recently and likely belonged to Miller or another owner. Thieves reportedly removed parts and shifted blame to a second vehicle tied to the Tucson area.
Lordsburg High School Senior Band and Chorus returned from the Southwest District music festival held at Alamogordo March 23 24 with notable results. Nearly 2000 students attended as the Chorus earned a first division superior rating while the Band received second division excellence. First division honors went to brass sextets drum ensemble and Choralettes. Jackie Galusha earned a first division as a soprano soloist under Mr Daniels supervision.
About 200 attendees gathered for Easter Sunrise Services at the Athletic Stadium. Pleasant weather replaced past cold conditions as bleachers filled with Easter finery and cor sages. The Woman's Club sponsored the event with Mr Brandt and Mrs Freeburg arranging details.
Mr Don Roush, field representative for the New Mexico Educational Association, will be the guest speaker at the PTA monthly meeting on Monday night April 9 at 8 o clock. Baby sitting will be provided under Home Economics supervision.
Sophomores dominate the intramural track meet scoring 120 points led by 66 points from Sophomore girls. Juniors 77, Seniors 65, Freshmen 31. Events include 440 yard relays 100 and 440 dashes, high jump, mile and shuttle hurdles with multiple place winners and times. Lordsburg Varsity heads to Deming Relays on Saturday with other teams present.

The First Baptist Church of Lordsburg invites the public to a revival meeting from Sunday April 8 through Sunday April 15 1956. Evangelist Rev Alton Green of Belen New Mexico will lead morning and evening services nightly at 7 30 p m with singing by Brother Sam Gass.
Miss Ruth Williams a 19 year old from Hachita rode out Sunday evening and wandered about 35 miles away in the isolated farming district. High winds and snow prevented plane searches. She returned home Monday morning after spending the night away from town.
The E. S. Bowman family held a reunion in Tucson with all members present. Grant Bowmen returned to their home in Boulder Colorado on Sunday.
In a close city election last Tuesday the Business Men's Ticket led by Mayor B M Kimbley won over the Greater Lordsburg Ticket led by Alan A Koff. Rich ards failed to win council seat, defeated by Albert Hill by 24 votes. Total ballots 1010 with Kimbley on top 625 votes. The tight race for Police Judge saw CL Brown 431 to Dick Rice 423.
The corrected figure states the animal contribution to the Red Cross drive amounted to 132 dollars. This updates the previously reported total and confirms the final sum reflects all donations recorded.
The Safety Council will hold a Tuesday April 10 meeting at City Hall starting 7 30 PM. An officers election will be held during the session.
Mrs Winnie Harwood of Bowie suffered a severe heart attack last Wednesday and remains in critical condition. Mr and Mrs Robert Harwood were in Bowie to be with her on the same day.
Mr W and Mrs W Scott spent a week with Mrs Higgins in Eastland Texas and returned home via Carlsbad Caverns.
