Revival Opens At Church of Christ

Revival meeting opened in this city Wednesday under the auspices of the Church of Christ with J. Sharp of Haromne as evangelist and W D Hadwin leading the singing. Daily services are announced with sermons by Sharp and a strong local program. The public is invited to attend each service.

Clifton C of C Banquet Hosts Lordsburg Boosters

Local boosters from Lordsburg and members of the Clifton Chamber of Commerce gathered in Clifton Arizona for the monthly banquet. A Knight of Pythias district conference gathered at Lonishire Castle Hall with Duncan and Deming delegates. Deming and Lordsburg attendees included Grand Vice-Chancellor James A. Boy's Eye Injury At Play Sparks El Paso Medical Scan

Donald Dawson son of Superintendent M Mee Dawson of Pacific Copper Company sustained an eye injury when a small rock while baseball play struck his eye. He was taken to Dr DeMoss who arranged immediate transfer to an eye specialist in El Paso. The doctor stated the eye damage may not destroy the eye though extent is uncertain. The Dawson family is with him in El Paso.

Warner Demonstrates New Electric Brakes

Mr and Mrs H Warner drove to Lordshire from Los Angeles for a weekend visit and displayed the Warner Electric Brake to Lordshire friends. The car had over 80000 miles with no wear on the electric device perfected by the Warners. Arrangements are in place for adoption in foreign markets and by high grade automobile manufacturers.

Parachute Performer Survives Close Call Over Lordsburg

Rosalie Cahill known as Heckless Hosie, a famed aerial dare devil, made a wing drop near Lordsburg Saturday but caught an electric wire causing a hard descent. She suffered a severe spinal injury but no fractures and was taken to DeMoass Hospital where doctors expected recovery and she plans to resume sky drops soon.

National Guard to Have Inspection Sunday

Troop W of the Deming National Guard will undergo a state inspection on Sunday April 14 with the Lordsburg platoon under Lieut F J McCarthy featured on the program. Lordsburg members are part of the Deming company and locally hosted visiting officers Lieut Crotchet first, Set Stutts and Supply Sgt Cram. McCarthy expects rapid growth to permit a local company with armory and government supplies in the near year.

Death of Beloved Pioneer Woman

Eugene Montague mourns the death of his mother in Bandera Texas followed by her funeral on Tuesday. Mrs Montague was a war mother who sent six sons to World War I and endeared herself to the community during her visit, inspiring many with her patriotism and character.

Dunagan Buys Fine French Rambouillet Ram

Dunagan of the Animas valley ranching firm Dunagan and sons bought a fine French Rambouillet ram in Duncan Arizona from Sam Foster. The ram heads the Dunagan flock as they expand toward a thousand fine sheep. Sired by a $500 ram, it is described as one of the finest breeders in the country.

Fire of Residence Causes Minor Kitchen Damage

Lordsburg fire brigade answered a Thursday alarm at the Bass residence near Hidalen garage. A cook stove sparked the blaze in the kitchen but prompt firefighting and neighbor aid confined it to the room with little damage.

Epworth Leaguers Organize Union Across Three Cities

Representatives from Silver City Deming and Lordsburg Epworth Leagues met at the Methodist church in this city. They formed a league union to meet quarterly with officers elected including Paul Shurtz and Robert Jeffus as presidents and Lela Cain as secretary. Plans call for the next meeting at Silver City May 5 with 24 from Silver City 17 from Deming and 18 from Lordsburg in attendance. Pastors from the three churches joined the gathering along with visitors from Duncan Arizona.

Luncheon Club Meeting at Hidalgo Grill Wraps Up

Highway Patrolman Injured by Grader Accident

George Cox patrol foreman of the state highway department was injured when a grader struck his left foot, breaking a bone. Dr. DeMoss repaired the damage and Cox is progressing as well as can be expected.

Honorable John T. Muir attends a special session where the Hidalgo County representative stands out. The highway department act passes with one dissenting vote and the appropriation bill will be shaped to Governor Dillon's ideas. PTA Meeting Preview With Elections Planned

Monday April 15 marks the next PTA gathering at 8 p m with plans for election of new officers for the coming year. A varied program includes dances and songs by Intermediate Pupils under Miss Father Zimmerman, a talk on the Yard and Garden Contest by County Agent J W Gleason, vocal solos by S H Gass Alice Jones Janet Bess Johnston and Glen Rothrock, remarks by Superintendent J T Smith, and piano by Edna Garner. Southern Pacific agents visit city for school remodeling plan

Harding tax agent and F Magruder assistant tax agent of the Southern Pacific called on local school board members Friday to inspect grade school buildings. They aim to devise a plan to remodel the present grade schools to provide more room and better facilities for the grades. The plan will be developed with local authorities and submitted for approval.

A large Army bombing plane en route from Fort Sill Oklahoma to San Diego California spent Wednesday night at the local army airfield. The aircraft was too large for the hangar and two officers spent the night at the Hidalgo Hotel.

W M S Meets Wednesday At Jones Home

The W M S of the Baptist church met at Felix Jones's home last Wednesday to study Jonah led by Mrs Mami Gases. Refreshments of banana pie and coffee were served. Members present included Mrs Farl Brown, Mrs Sam Gass, Mrs W Wilkerson, Mrs P B Blocker, Miss Inez Wright, Mrs Chas Pence and others. The next meeting will be at Mrs Pence's home with all mission supporters invited.

Fire at Tailor Shop Destroys Clothing in Drying Room

A fire at the Lordsturg Tailor Shop damaged many clothes in the drying room and caused water damage to the building. The blaze was confined to the drying room by prompt fire department work. Owner W. W. Wilkerson said he would reopen Thursday morning and resume first class work.

Clyde Fuller formerly of Lordsburg wed Marjorie Hobertson of Tucson Arizona in a recent ceremony. The couple will reside in San Simon. Relatives Mrs GW Trimble and daughters Mia Walter Borwell and Mea Wi Townsend joined the celebrations in San Simeon, as Fuller runs a garage at San Binion.

High Line And Local Lines Completed In Lordsburg

The Texas Lau ishing Co local lines in Lordsburg are finished. A construction crew will depart for Duncan after weeks of work. The high line from Silver City and complete local distribution lines are rebuilt to ensure reliable twenty four hour service with emergency power from a local plant. Manager Leste Blackburne praises the property condition and anticipates trouble free electric service.
