Airplane Wreck at Lordsburg Airport Delays Flight

The Lordsburg airport saw an airplane crash during landing Monday. Both pilots escaped injury and the craft was damaged beyond repair, later transported to base for repair or replacement.

A letter dated March 21 from State High School Inspector J. W. Diefen dorf commends Lordsburg High School for a well equipped library and strong faculty while noting needs for a new building and updated furniture and equipment. The school remains on the accredited list of the North Central Association.

J. Sharp of Harmmond Indiana who organized 400 New Testament Churches in six years will begin a revival at Lordsburg Church of Christ in April. He led group evangelism in North America for six years and served Hamond church for 15 years adding 2700 members. Rally Day is set for Sunday April 14 with Bible school attendance aimed at 100.

Brother Sharp Sermons Bring Gospel to Arizona Cities

Brother Sharp held revival meetings in Tucson and Prescott yielding a 50 percent rise in attendance in Tucson and a 100 percent rise in Prescott. He now conducts nightly services at 7 30 in Yuma praising non creedal Christian preaching with strong gospel singing.

Cantata Presented at High School

The Lordsburg Community Coral Club staged the Cantata Rab bout in the high school auditorium Sunday evening to a large appreciative audience. The performance showed excellent musical interpretation and the club's progress after weeks of practice. A similar program by the Deming club is planned next Sunday at the same venue with invitations extended to the public.

District Court Adjourning to April 29 in Silver City

Judge Carl P. Duniton and court staff from Silver City attended the opening of the April term. After jury selection and case assignment, the court adjourned to April 20 with the regular April term resuming on April 29.

Fordson Tractor Plows Wood Ranch for Irrigation Test

The Woods Dairy uses a Fordson tractor to prepare about thirty acres for an irrigation project on the Wood ranch just north of the city. Mr Woods planted five acres of alfalfa last fall and plans six more acres to be sold, with five acres to cotton and the rest to feed crops as an experiment. He is building an eight hundred yard long, five foot high dike across the old Thompson canal to impound water. The trial will attract interest from irrigation followers and, if successful, may be adopted by others. He hopes to raise enough feed and winter pasture for his dairy herd of six head.

Dare devil parachute show in Lordsburg Saturday

Smith Re elected for City Superintendent

At the Lansbury board of education meeting the election of a superintendent was settled. P. T Brith was re elected for another term. Smith’s re election was warmly approved by school patrons. Lordsburg schools have improved under Mr Levith and rank among the best for cities of this size in the state. It is hoped Mr Smith will accept and remain with Lordsburg schools.

Epworth Leaguers Meet in Lordsburg

Epworth Leaguers from Dering and Silver City travel to Lordsburg to join local leaguers at Methdoutel church for a 2 30 Sunday meeting April 7 to organize a union with three cities and welcoming other leagues. Program includes prayers, talks by Rev Nelson Wurgler, music by Deming and Silver City quartet, duets by Garcia and others, a business session and social hour.

The Star Theatre will host a final dance before a 30 day construction break. The remodeling adds an expansion and shifts the stage to enlarge future dance space once finished. Dance lovers are reminded this is the last event until the work is completed.

County Commissioners Hold Monthly Session

The county board led by Chairman Chas Fuller and members from Cloverdale met for the regular monthly session. An order was issued to purchase a Buick car for the sheriff's office, with other routine matters to be published in the proceedings.

Scout Executive Visits Verdin Troups in Hidalgo County

Boy Scouts Scout Executive Baker from Silver City visited Verdin troup in Hidalgo County last week. An hour of training for scout masters and assistants preceded a court of honor where about thirty merit badges were awarded to first troup members. A second troup is being organized at Verdin with Ivan Payne as leader as the first troup plans a hike to complete a 100 percent rating, the third in Hidalgo County.

The Epworth League organized a Win One Club contest during a revival at a Methodist church. Eleanor Puller led the gold side and Hubert Jeff led the white. the gold side won while the white team entertained them. Complete Water Wells Drilled North of the City

AJ YV Brown, a well drilling contractor, completed a deep water well for WH Warmer along the lane seven poles north of Animas. He cleaned out a well for L W Gleason on the old Feathers homestead north of the city and is now drilling a well for Mrs Tom Weight on the homestead west of the city. Gleason plans to use the Weight well for irrigation.

Marcel 26 and J G Jevigan along with L J Woody both of Gilbert were issued licenses on March 2. Parley Paul Noegle of Phoenix and Anona Coombs Ferguson of Mesa received licenses March 2. Boniface Kubalgora and Mercedes Vielareal both of Miami were issued licenses in March. W April 4 saw Oliver H Maud and Mabel Harrison of Miami licensed. a gasoline driven railway car from Western Union Telegraph Company visited Lordeburg last Thursday. the 22 passenger car resembled a locomotive and had traveled about 7000 miles from new york. accompanying officials praised lordeborgs progress and prosperity during the visit.

March mining output and electrical upgrades at Lordsburg mines

The Lordsburg mines shipped 16.615 tons of copper, gold and silver ore in March. Pacific Copper Co. completed a full electrical mining system with power from Texas-Louisiana Power Co. as No 3 shaft extends toward 800 feet. Ore shipments run about 600 tons weekly while new headframes and extended sinking improve future production.
