Library Balloon Launch in Lordsburg for National Week

About seventy boys and girls from LHS and groups like Brownies Cub Scouts and 4 H joined the first National Library Week Balloon Launch at the LHS Football Field. They attached tagalong cards to helium balloons and released them from the bleachers, hoping for returns via mail. A Balloon Tracking Chart will record landing sites and distances.

Lordsburg School Accepts Chickering Piano After Fund Drive

Lordsburg School Board told Judge Saucedo they would accept the Chickering concert grand piano if the town council could repurchase it through a subscription. The piano, bought by the PTA in 1929 and officially given to the system in 1933, is back with the district pending board approval. The board also accepted mathematics teacher Darril Goodman’s resignation effective June, noted North Central’s reaffirmation of sanction, and discussed new stadium seating bids from Stadium Unlimited at 7632 dollars. A 150 car angular parking lot was proposed, with concrete designators for organization. The board set a special budget session for April 27 before the state budget hearing May 19.
