The Motor Vehicle Division urges motorists on the staggered system whose registrations expire in April to renew by Thursday April 30, 1987. A statewide mailing of 82,871 renewal notices has been sent. Use the mail order option by returning the form with payment. deadline is the 20th day of the due month. The Lordsburg Optimist Club and the City of Lordsburg sponsor the 6th windsail race and annual three and four wheeler motorcycle races this weekend April 4 5. Windsails from Deming Raton Silver City and Albuquerque join races on BLM land eight miles west of Lordsburg. Participants must meet sail size rules be 16 or older with parental consent for minors. helmets eye protection required for motorcycles. entry fees 20 25 dollars windsail 10 15 dollars motorcycles. Trophies for top three and best design awarded Sunday April 5 along with motorcycle class prizes. a windsail dance follows on April 4.

State Officials Welcome Nordisk Film Studios To New Mexico

State officials from the Economic Development and Tourism Department and the New Mexico Film Commission visited Lordsburg on March 30 to welcome Nordisk Film Studios to New Mexico and offer assistance. A four party Lordsburg PR group hosted the delegation for lunch before introductions. The visit drew praise for Lordsburg Hidalgo County’s support, noting local purchasing, temporary jobs, and strong community pride with a probable return visit as filming progresses. Lordsburg will be promoted at the state level for future film industry opportunities.

Budget Hearing Scheduled By Commissioners Hidalgo County

Hidalgo County Commissioners will hold a budget hearing Tuesday April 14 at 5 P M in the Commissioners Room at the Hidalgo County Courthouse. The proposed budget for 1987 88 will be discussed and available for inspection. Citizens may provide written and oral comments and ask questions about the entire budget.
