Land Commissioner Alex Armijo orders a 100 percent increase in annual state grazing fees, phased over five years starting Oct 1. The current average 10 cents per acre rises to 20 cents in 1975, funding $954,600 for operating expenses of 19 state agent fund beneficiaries, with common schools as chief beneficiary.

A truck trailer crash on I-10 near the Hochita overpass killed three children and a mother with an unborn child and injured four others. The truck driver Michael Ray Prewitt 24 of Charlotte North Carolina said he misjudged distance.
