The Flag Anniversary Across States Honors 1777 Adoption
The one hundred sixteenth anniversary of the official flag adoption was celebrated last Wednesday. It recalls June 14 1777 when Congress set the thirteen stripes and a blue field with thirteen stars. Paul Jones first raised the flag on the Ranger. The 1818 act reduced stripes to thirteen and added a star for each new state. The original Paul Jones flag remains, shown during the recent Navesink display. Also notes medical ad and horse treatise offer.
