North Amherst News Roundup 1893 Highlights

A little girl died of brain fever in Charles Schultz's family in North Amherst. Dr. Pursell treated his mother in Doylestown. J C Holzhauer visited by his father John Holzhauer of Huron. Seven hundred children attend Amherst union school district. A special train carried about seventy five locals to the Saengerfest in Cleveland. Good Templars hold an ice cream social at Kendleighs corners. Voters urged to support bonds for a new schoolhouse. Ice cream festival by Congregational church raised fifteen dollars. Good Templars day at Lakeside postponed. Quarry pay day noted as improving and fewer layoffs. Remains of Mrs Orpha Ormsby, widow of Isaac Ormsby, brought from Cleveland for burial. funeral held at Mr Smith Steel residence. age seventy seven. Large funeral attendance shown esteem for deceased.

On Sunday evening at the Congregational church Ridgeville will host a program of literary exercises by local youths on the subject of Japan to support foreign missionary work. All interested are invited to attend.
