Sioux City Bank Failures Trigger Wide Corporate Assignments
In Sioux City on Tuesday T Hedges president of Union Stock Yards and Union Loan & Trust assigns nearly 1.9 million dollars in property to E H Hubbard for creditors. The Union Loan & Trust also assigns assets, with liabilities around 745 thousand, as D T Hedges and other linked firms falter due to a tight money market. Other local companies including Sioux City Stove Works and the rail interests follow with mortgages and partial assignments. Despite this, banks report no runs and a broad economic shock is tempered by expected reorganizations and continued operation of the yards.
