Amherst Schools win 1.6 million state tech grant for robotics
Amherst Schools will receive about 1.6 million in technical education equipment funding from a state program that allocated 34 districts money to expand career technical education. The project, led by Mackenzie Hall John Agostinelli and Beth Schwartz, will expand maker space add a 600000 flexible manufacturing system and create two tracks in robotics programming logic controllers and computer integrated manufacturing for grades 9-12.

Gore Orphanage bridge reopens after 20 years of closure
The Gore Orphanage Bridge and nearby Gore Orphanage Road in Henrietta Township reopened Tuesday after about two decades. Lorain County spent 4.3 million dollars in state funding in spring 2023 to replace the bridge and rebuild the road south of Becker Road. Schirmer Construction of North Olmsted won a 4.28 million dollar contract in April 2023 for the project with federal backing arriving through the state in 2023.

The Best Years of Our Lives WWII Remembrance Event
In November 1945 Amherst hosts a free living history event by the American Veterans Remembrance Association and the Amherst Historical Society at Sandstone Village. The program runs November 9 from 9 am to 5 pm and November 10 from 9 am to 2 pm with free shuttle from Amherst Junior High.
