Parents charged in boy s opioid death case
The 11 year old Liam Reed of La Grange Township died March 30 from acute fentanyl and morphine intoxication. His parents Christopher Reed and Erin Gallagher, both 36 and 33, were charged by a Lorain County grand jury with involuntary manslaughter and misdemeanor child endangerment in a secret indictment. Coroner Dr Frank Miller called the death a homicide, noting Liam’s Dravet syndrome may have contributed to accidental ingestion after gaining access to drugs at home.

Charges dismissed in Lorain County prosecutor case
In Elyria, felony counts against Lorain County Prosecutor J D Tomlinson and Chief of Staff James Burge were dropped after the key witness Jennifer Battistelli again did not appear. Judge Carroll said no recourse but to dismiss as no further evidence or warrant could be secured. Tomlinson and Burge deny wrongdoing and vow to review the case after the election loss of Tomlinson to Tony Cillo.
