Lorain County marked bicentennial with history program
Lorain County commemorated its 200th anniversary with a Friday ceremony on the old courthouse steps and at the Justice Center. Officials and five of eight living former commissioners attended, recounting 1824 figures and a 1824 treasurer appointment while a Gold Star memorial dedication was announced for September 29 beside the Lorain County Police Memorial.

Oberlin's Allen Memorial Art Museum shuts its doors to begin a multiyear Sustainable Infrastructure Project aimed at geothermal heating and cooling and carbon neutrality by 2025. The facelift includes updated lighting and flooring, with 15,000 works stored carefully and galleries rotating closures through the summer.
