President Wilson praised New Jersey voters for approving the compromise jury reform bill in Tuesday's referendum. County results showed small majorities with Sussex County leading by about 2,600 votes and Essex County opposing the measure in the spring struggle.

Forces Move On Currency Bill In Senate Action

Senator Wilson and Senator Simmonts push for action on the currency bill amid Banking and Currency Committee activity. An amendment passed 7 to 5 requires Federal Reserve stock be offered to the public for sixty days with banks underwriting subscriptions and taking unsold shares. Banks would name four directors while the government appoints five of each regional reserve bank’s directors.

Robe rail lock patent eyed for auto safety

Reuben W. Johnson recently elected councilman of Monmouth Beach has applied for a patent on a robe rail lock for cars. A new company, Safety Automobile Appliance Co., will handle exclusive rights with offices in New York. Johnson serves as vice president. Clinton Crow is president. William Creighton is secretary and treasurer. The device locks robe rails with a keyed control to prevent theft of garments left in unattended autos.

Butts Jailed in Executors Suit Over Estate Funds

Thomas W. Butts an attorney of 61 Chambers Street and Monmouth Beach summer resident was arrested by a deputy sheriff on an order from Supreme Court Justice Pendleton. Executors Francis L. Wandell and Josephine Wandell Wandel allege Butts diverted over $25,000 from their brother Townsend Wandel estate, including stock proceeds and mortgage funds. He is in Ludlow Street Jail on $26,600 bail.

Plans Show Fine Post Office Building For Long Branch

Congress has funded 125000 for site and structure for a new Federal Building to be built at the Shaw estate on Third Avenue and Vand Dyke Place opposite Garfield Avenue in Long Branch. Construction is to start by mid next month and finish by April 1, 1915 with bids due November 22. The two story building features a lobby on the second floor, separate entrances, a vault, a registry department, postmaster room, civil service room, and offices including a bureau of investigation.

Touring Moss Car Damaged In Shrewsbury Collision

A Moss family touring car from Med Bank collided with a Runkel car from Westwood Avenue at Shrewsbury corner Tuesday afternoon. The Moss driver Mr. Moss skillfully avoided a major crash, was shaken but uninjured, and the Moss car awaits overhaul at Andy's Garage. The Runkel car suffered a bent front axle and damaged mud guard.
