Former Acting Governor James F. Fielder defeats Edward C. Stokes by 433 votes in this city. Colby Progresive-Roosevelt tally 94. Fielder total 1,134. Stokes 701. Berry makes bid to lead Asbury Park as mayor

In a three cornered race William A. Berry a bank cashier won the Asbury Park mayoralty with 930 votes to 482 for Dr Reginald Bennett and 300 for Dr Pratt, staking a Progressive path over Democrats and Republicans. Berry is a noted local banker and popular figure.

Oakhurst Vote Returns Fielder Lead and Local Republican Ticket

In Oakhurst the governor race favors Fielder with 149 to 116 for Stokes and Colby 16. Close Contests at Monmouth Beach

Sharp contests recorded yesterday at Monmouth Beach elected councilmen Reuben Johnson 82 and Frank Van Brunt 76 over Merlin Kettel 75 and Nicholas Woolley 70. Kettel lost by a single vote amid varied returns for other local offices and measures including Freeholder Corlies 71 votes and jury bill and branch court votes.

Fielder Wins New Jersey Governor Election Amid Progressive Momentum

Governor elect James Fairman Fielder leads in early returns with an estimated statewide plurality near 145000 and counts in Essex and Cumberland counties show shifts toward the Democratic and Progressive tickets. Stokes loses Cumberland and Millville while Cumberland yields a notable Progressive gain. Red Bank Elects Fielder by Narrow Margin in Local Vote

Governor Melcher carried Red Bank by 99 votes with Mount and Sted Bank backing for the Assembly. Corlles topped Freeholders with 801 votes. Local councilmen elected include Dr. Herbert E. Williams Republican and Ralph O. Willguss Democrat. Justice of the Peace seats were decided with John Beck Democrat and Colonel G Morrison Republican prevailing. Constable Harry T. Van Note Democrat defeated Elwood Minagh Republican and J Frank Patterson Progressive. Jury act adoption approved 459 to 862 against. land purchase for county courthouse passed 844 yes to 551 no. Thanksgiving Play Rehearsals at St Luke’s School

Rehearsals for a Thanksgiving entertainment at St Luke’s Sunday School begin tonight. The program features two playlets, one by young women and one by young men, including Our Church Fair and Shall Our Mothers Vote. Chester A. Dennis leads a cast of twelve women and twelve men. Tonight’s rehearsal is at the Bennett residence on Washington Street. Tickets go on sale next Monday.

The branch court proposition failed across Monmouth County with a large majority, though Long Branch and Shrewsbury Townships favored it. Red Bank Keyport Asbury Park Matawan rejected it with 207 848 174 and 132 votes respectively.
