Long Branch Board of Education Approves School Budget
The Long Branch Board of Education adopted a budget totaling $150,000 for city schools with $64,000 expected from the State and $66,090 to be raised locally, a $3,000 cut from last year. It includes $80,000 for teachers salaries, $6,000 for fuel, $11,850 for janitors and staff, and funds for furniture, insurance, printing, grounds, utilities, text books, night school, manual training, medical inspection, and bond interest. Completion of the Intermedial School is projected at $1,000 more.

Nordica Jewels Worth a Million In Batavia Will
Mme Lillian Nordica died aboard the Tasman near Java leaving jewels valued at about one million dollars and other property of several hundred thousand. Alva Adams helped draw the will as a fellow passenger during a voyage after the Lanastic ship grounded in the Gulf of Papua. The jewels may go to her sisters, with other legacies to her husband George W. Young and three sisters.
