The Supreme Court denied Harry K. Thaw’s bail application in his habeas corpus proceedings to secure freedom in New Hampshire. The court also refused his bid to travel to Pittsburg, issuing no reason. Justices did not adjourn today, planning further rulings next Monday and then October adjournment.
A horse hitched to Fred Layton’s delivery wagon ran wild on Broadway and Third Avenue near Seiler’s pharmacy, ripping shingles and wounding no one. Patrolman Vetter and Morris Judas subdued the animal. A second horse belonging to Hager Fornarotto plumb ers caused a minor wreck on Oakwood and Norwood avenues, overturning a county road cleaner wagon. Edward E Cloughly freed the horse and the harness was damaged.
A group from Long Branch will depart next Thursday for Mallet's Bay on Lake Champlain New York. The party includes Mr and Mrs H E Mason and two children Edgar and Park Mr and Mrs Walter Han ford of Brooklyn Mr and Mrs Clarence G VanNote and Dr and Mrs I E Shaw. The party anticipates excellent fishing and possible large catches from Mallet's Bay.

George Fulton Palmer age 38 died at his father William E K Palmer home in West Long Branch after thirteen years fighting consumption. He studied medicine, graduated in 1901, lived mostly in Denver Arizona Texas and Kansas, returned last April, and died after a hemorrhage with funeral arrangements set for Wednesday at 2 30 from the Palmer homestead with Rev J B Whitton and Rev C B Fisher officiating. He is survived by his father four brothers and two sisters.
Crowds filled Price’s old family resort at Pleasure Bay for an informal opening on Saturday night. The new glass enclosed dining addition, illuminated in white enamel, hosted dancing on a polished hardwood floor. Charles Wilson and entourage provided cabaret music as tables glowed with white roses and ferns. Aged Mason William D. Champlin of Hartford, visiting retired Chief Edward Root, praised the coast visit.
Miss Emma Cheesman has been elected a member of the teaching force in this city. She will be assigned to a class of backward pupils at the Grammar school.

Former U S vice president Adlai E Stevenson died in a Chicago hospital after months of illness. He was unconscious briefly before death, with his three children at his bedside Lewis G Stevenson Martha Hardin and Letitia Stevenson among the survivors.
Amateur wireless operator Gilmore West Jr and his six foot antenna listened as a live wireless telephone message traveled from Arlington Virginia to New York and Long Island Sayville over sixty miles. Dr Galen McCaa demonstrated the system contacting the Old Dominion Line Tyler and the Vanatus yacht at Stamford Connecticut while telegraph and radio operations continued without interference.
The Long Branch Chamber of Commerce will hold its second June meeting at City Hall tonight. Several important committees will report, and the Commerce Board will back the cornerstone laying for the new Federal Building. The celebration is set for Saturday June 27, marking the summer season, with Graduation Gifts advertised at Nathanson's Jeweler, 173 Broadway.
Patriotism colored the Children’s Day parade and services yesterday with abundant daisies and flags in churches. St Luke's Church reported extensive daisy decorations and a notable procession led by trumpeters. The offering totaled 190 dollars and 62 cents, with detailed department gifts listed, and 177 names appeared on the banner roll.

Frank Morris, 7, narrowly escaped undercarriage impact when mudguard struck his mouth. treatment by Dr. Bennett for lip laceration and loosened teeth. Curtis Schmidt fined $10 for speeding near Freehold.
Red Bank Chautauqua opens a week of events featuring Romano Orchestra, lectures by Mrs Grace D Goodwyn and Dr Parkes Cadman, Tuskegee Institute Singers, motion pictures, and sacred music by the Dunbar Singing Band. Howard L Close chairs the association. attendance up from last year.

Washington June 16 President Wilson signed the canal tolls repeal bill at eleven o clock this morning with no ceremony. Elks Flag Day exercises planned for Long Branch Lodge No 742 B P O Elks at the Elks Home Garfield Avenue tonight. Members and families admitted to the lodge room for the ritual program with a reception to follow for auxiliary ladies and other guests. Dancing and refreshments will be provided. Wives and children of members urged to attend.
Children’s Day was observed by Red Bank churches with evening programs at First Baptist, First Methodist, Presbyterian and Grace Methodist. Presbyterian children led a procession around the building and all services were well attended. Rev. Lester Leggett of the Reformed church spoke in the morning and children led the evening service.

In Washington on June 16 the President charged a broad business plot seeks to force Congress to adjourn without passing trust legislation. He cited letters from W P Anhelt of the Pictorial Review Company urging lawmakers to abandon trust measures and said the scheme would fail.
Fred Gifford of Gifford Latour Cranmer Co sells his interests to Edward Latour Alvin Cranmer and Albert Tilloton. They will continue as Lacour Cranmer Co at the same site, maintaining liberal patronage from builders. Gifford has no definite plans yet. The advertisement notes a dining room and cabaret open for the season at Keith's theatre Germania Hotel 118 Broadway.
