The New Jersey State Board of Public Utility Commissioners withheld approval of the Atlantic Highlands Gas Company franchise in Shrewsbury township, citing it as unnecessary for public convenience. The Consolidated Gas Company already serves the area, and a June 13 hearing at the State House will decide if its rate of $1.50 per thousand cubic feet is just, with action to set a fair rate if found unjust.
