Colored couple convicted of theft at Long Branch depot
Forrest Willis and Margaret Webster were found guilty by a jury before Judge Foster of stealing about $300 in money and jewelry from Mrs. Anna Townley of Long Branch on February 23. The Websters were arrested March 13 at Asbury Park while about to board a train to Washington DC. They implicated a coworker, William Jones, who was exonerated by Capt. Walling and Townley. he was later cleared again by the jury. Willis and Webster face sentencing next Thursday.
