A boy from Oceanport formerly sentenced for setting fires last May faces a possible re sentencing due to age. Giver Davis receives a state prison term from three to five years.
In a July session Judge Foster sentenced Luke Con 19 James Davis 45 and Herbert MacLusky 24 to state prison terms for arson and related property crimes at Oport. Davis 30 faced a sentence between three years and no more than state confinement. Attorney Rey urged leniency citing shared guilt but prison terms were upheld. Additional defendants including Stephen Jonesky Irving Tallman Willidin Mauger and others faced guilty pleas for theft arson and liquor violations with suspended sentences or fines. Community notices announced a festival and church outing at James Church Lawn with food and ice cream.
A meeting of the Associated Fire Officers discussed parade details in Phil Daly head quarters. They approved closing Ocean drive on August 7 and 8, arranged base ball park lunches, bought eleven cups for prizes, and set a parade route from Farm to Ocean Park and back via Lincoln, Biberon, Park, Ocean avenues, Brighton, Satire, Bath, and Broadway past the Casino. The Ocean Company decoration donation was $15, and the next meeting is next Tuesday night.

State Board of Equalization reports 430 banks in New Jersey filed complete returns under the new bank stock tax act with one exception, a Lakewood bank. Returns indicate banks will comply with the tax terms and deadlines.
Miss Esther Barlow of Lyceum Parochial School earned a prestigious diocesan scholarship to St Elizabeth's College Madison after achieving the top score among 14 000 parochial students in the Diocese of Trenton Examinations were held in Camden Trenton and South Amboy The award covers eight years of high school and college with free board and tuition Rev Wm P Cantwell lauds the school noting past honors went to boys in prior years
Three cases of driving while intoxicated were ruled on by Commissioner Job H. Lippincott in Trenton. Two drivers had licenses revoked and a third from another state gained reciprocity privileges. George H. Cooper of Red Bank had his license suspended for taking his employer’s car on a joy ride causing $200 damage. his employer dismissed him and did not file the complaint.

A National Biscuit Company horse ran loose near Sea Bright New Jersey Central station and nearly wrecked the open air waiting room. The slate roof posts were knocked down as the horse fled. driver William J. Flynn was bruised but not seriously hurt. A front-seat boy was uninjured. eyewitness William Burke reported the incident. No boat departures from Long Branch at 2 p.m. were affected.
In St Petersburg today clashes between strikers and Cossacks leave six dead and many injured as 160000 workers join the walkout. Streetcar service is halted for a day and newspapers are suppressed amid attempts to attack water works and disrupt gatherings. An unrelated civil suit by Dr. Frank Lee against Louis S. Muir is postponed for two weeks due to counsel absence.
A group from the Ushers Union and Woman Worker Society of Asbury Church enjoyed a straw ride to Asbury Park last night with guests. The outing featured George C. Tilyou’s amusements and a wagon tour hosted by local residents. Burial services were held for Mrs. Margaret Layton, widow of Richard Layton, at her daughter's home on Sixth Avenue.
The first trolley car ran yesterday afternoon over the new Keansburg spur of the Jersey Central tracks. The car was pushed to the terminus and connected to existing lines, signaling the start of service on the newly completed route.
Lester Dangler was struck by T Elwood Snyder of Eatontown while riding south on Monmouth Drive near Park Avenue. He escaped broken bones but scraped hands and hips and was treated at home by Dr James. The unmarried rider is the son of Mrs Juhia Damer of Woodrow Street.
