Fire destroys Point Pleasant high school leaving two seriously hurt
A four story brick high school in Point Pleasant was destroyed by fire this morning causing an estimated 35 000 to 40 000 in damages covered by insurance. Assistant Fire Chief W Hudson Lovell and John Moore were trapped on the third floor when stairs collapsed and suffered serious injuries. They were treated at Spring Lake Hospital after rapid medical aid. The origin of the blaze remains unknown and rebuilding will start once insurance is settled.

Governor May Not Attend Long Branch Carnival

Stanton elder for twenty eighth years laid to rest
Horace Stanton longtime church elder and Odd Fellows and AOUW member was buried at Greenlawn after a service led by Rev. Dr. John G. Lovell. The funeral included pallbearers from civic groups and remarks on his lifelong church loyalty and his exalting work. Burial followed at Greenlawn cemetery. Theodore Roosevelt Rehm, infant son of Mr and Mrs Harry C Rehm, will be eligible to vote today. A colored man Miller Griffin died at Monmouth Memorial Hospital.

Woman Dead from Kerosene Explosion in Asbury Park Home
Mrs. George Mitchell of Asbury Park died from severe burns after a kerosene explosion at her house. Charred stove remains and a discarded kerosene can indicated the cause as neighbors raced to help. The minister carried the two Mitchell girls to safety as the fire was put out with a garden hose.

Porto Rican tourist fined for speeding near Headden's Corner
Porto Rico resident Jacob B. Rue arrested San Juan visitor H Lloyd Gregory for exceeding 25 mph near Headden's Corner. He pled guilty, fined 5 plus costs 5.55, paid and released. Gregory, in Atlas 40 hp license 525 Porto Rico, said en route to Atlantic City. He later obtained New Jersey license.

Ocean Construction appeals foreclosure ruling on Long Branch pier
In Trenton on July 20 the Ocean Construction Company appeals Chancellor Walker's ruling denying reopening of the foreclosure case against Hennebique Construction. The suit foreclosed a $100,000 mortgage on the pier property. Ocean contends its counsel failed to file papers giving notice. The Chancery Court initially refused to reopen after a show cause hearing.

Exhib It Horse Show Opens With New Exhibitors At Hollywood Park
The nineteenth annual Monmouth County Horse Show at Hollywood Park opens next Wednesday and runs through the week. New exhibitors include W. R.
