Shocking Lightning Injures Middletown Man at Plant

Joseph Kegley night engineer at Benjamin Allens artificial ice plant in Middletown town ship was badly shocked by lightning during a severe storm. He crawled to a signal button then collapsed and is in dangerous condition at home on the Keansburg road.

Baptist Shore Dinner Brings Out Faithful at Red Bank

The Men's League of First Baptist Church Red Bank held its annual shore dinner at Al Smith's near Oceanport. A large crowd boarded the Knickerbocker pharmacy stage at eight and enjoyed a bountiful meal of clams, eels, crabs, fried chicken, potato salad, and fruit. President Henry McLean welcomed attendees while Rev. Johnson I. Miner, pastor, offered remarks before the gathering adjourned for the sixth page continuation.

Highlands Carnival Day Draws Pleased Crowd

Yesterday in Highlands the Hendrick Hudson battalion camp near Navesink Avenue and Miller Street hosted Board of Trade and Officials day with flags and lanterns decorating hotels and tents. The event featured grand displays and a large American flag at the camp entrance as crowds gathered for a festive community occasion.

Elberon Engine Company Dance At Deal Casino

About 800 attendees filled the Deal Casino hall for the midsummer dance of the Elberon Engine Company. Firemen from Deal Asbury Park Allenhurst and Long Branch joined Cong Branch guests. J Pitman West Orchestra played a 24 number program with other musical acts. refreshments were served. Harold Content chaired the reception. Harry Cloyd managed the event. Long Branch couples returned home near 4 am noting the trip was worthwhile.

Red Bank Boys Enjoyed Outing to Plum Island

A group of about thirty Red Bank youths chaperoned by Louis Tetley and Capt. Frank Dickman sailed from Red Bank at 9 46 AM, reached Plum Island by 11 30 AM, and returned around 6 30 PM. They swam, played baseball, dug clams, and shared ham and chicken sandwiches, beans, cake, pickles, and soft drinks.

Long Branch Team To Enter Six Hour Endurance Race

Long Branch Cycle Club will send two two man teams to Baltimore for a six hour endurance event. Louis Kahn and Warren Beebe will represent the club while the Huhe brothers Henry and Karl Clap will race for this city. The Long Branch quartet departs tomorrow with several rooters. The prize purse offers 500 dollars for the winning two wheelers. The race is set for Sunday at the Monumental City.

Boy narrowly escapes serious injury in Red Bank street accident

Thomas Morris, 12, of 71 Wallace St Red Bank was struck by a large yellow Peerless tourer in Monmouth St. The car halted after the impact. Norman Garrett and another passerby freed the boy and he was taken to Dr J B Sayre's office then home. He suffered bruises and possible internal injuries.

Summer Festival at Star of the Sea Church in Tent

The Ladies of Star of the Sea Church host a summer festival in a bright Broadway tent beside the new Broadway theatre.
