Boy Admits Participation in Eighty Bombings and Two Murders

Alfred Lehman known as Schmitty testified in New York Criminal Court detailing involvement in eighty bomb explosions and two murders tied to an Italian led gang. He described payments of 200 to 400 dollars per attack and the gang’s use of the Black Hand in letters before attacks.

Club Dinner for Tev Lala and Hebrew Association Meeting

The Hebrew Association held its weekly meeting at headquarters 178 field invenue last evening. After business, members enjoyed a multi course dinner prepared by B Weber and J Poxins ky for about fifty guests. Trenton Jan 27 State censorship of all moving picture films is provided in a bill introduced by Democrat Mr Kuhlke of Hudson County The Governor would appoint a three person State Board of Censors for three years with 1500 salary The Board would license theatres charge 25 license fee examine films stamp approval and levy 1 per reel or 2 for reels over 1000 lingal feet Violations carry 25 to 206 fine or 39 days to one year imprisonment New bills pour into Legislature as 72 Assembly measures and 25 Senate bills introduced Pensioning public officers after 20 years service and other reforms also listed.

Anniversary service marks Baptist church growth

Twenty one years since the Ate Japtic Highlands Baptist Church organized and a new building erected a year later. Last night a special service counted 167 members with 80 answering roll call. two deaths and twelve additions including seven by baptism. Addresses by Dr Abbley and Rev Sutphin followed by social hour. Rev George H Gardner is pastor. Reports also note a felon case in Fair Haven and Flood pictures shown at Red Bank showing Sea Bright disaster scenes.

Edwin L Wells long time Oakhurst resident and former road supervisor dies at his home after four months illness. He leaves eight surviving children and was a trustee of Ocean Township schools. Burial will be at West Long Branch after services at the Wells homestead and Old Flint M E Church.

Edwards Re-elected State Comptroller At Trenton Session

At a joint session in Trenton on January 27 Edward I Edwards Democrat of Hudson County was re elected State Comptroller for a three year term. The Senate President John W Slocum presided while Lyseus Weil nominated Edwards. The proceedings were noted in a ceremonial blog style report.

Health conferences strip boats at on vital subjects

Three meetings were held in the State House at Trenton for the medical benefit of the State Board and local boards of health. About 200 delegates attended from across the state. Discussions covered food protection, standardizing milk ordinances, municipal laboratories, and publicity for health work. Key speakers urged uniform laws, cooperative laboratories, and public education to advance health, with the refrain We have health for sale. If we can't sell it we might as well go out of business. The event concluded with a NJ Health Officers Association meeting emphasizing cooperation and standardization. A separate note reports a motor boat theft leading to a county jail entry.

The Long Branch Council No. 428 Royal Arcanum organized plans for its 34th anniversary at Daniel Edwards home. The event next Tuesday features an old fashioned rally with handshakes, home talent, ten minute talks, and a history of Royal Arcanum in Long Branch since 1880. Refreshments follow. past regents join the reception committee of about twenty. Charter members receive reserved seats. widows of deceased members will be invited.
