Skating Carnival Draws Record Crowd on Shrewsbury River

Nearly two thousand spectators packed Pleasure Bay to watch the Shrewsbury Ice Boat and Yacht Club meet under ISU America sanction. Local skaters, including Morris Wood aiding arrangements, competed on a soft ice course with safety patrols and a sunlit clubhouse audience. Final results covered half mile, time 1.88.5, and a six barrel backward exhibition by Wood, with the big two mile handicap completed on third page continuation.

Death of prominent Long Branch mason Squire Pitcher

Smith C. Pitcher a longtime Long Branch resident and noted chimney and oven authority dies at 77 on his Scobeyville farm after kidney trouble. Survived by son Harry B. Memorial to EFC Young in Jersey City Church

A marble pulpit and lectern dedicated at St. John's Episcopal Church in Jersey City in memory of the late BE. RF. Young, a Jersey City banker and Long Branch summer resident. Miss Spates Weds Chester Wright in Quiet Long Branch Wedding

Miss Charlotte Spates daughter of Brooklyn natives married Chester R. Wright yesterday at the Potter residence in Long Branch. Rev. Dr. Albert H. Eberhardt officiated with Grace Spates as bridesmaid and Frank Hayden as best man. The couple planned a week or ten day honeymoon in Philadelphia and Washington before living with the Wrights in West Street.

Revival Services to Continue This Week at St Luke’s

Revival services continue nightly this week at St Luke's M. B. Church with Rev Dr J G Reed in charge. Last night the meeting was helped by Isaac B White of Oakhurst M and Church as interest deepens among members and the congregation.

Made Blind by a Heavy Cold at Asbury Park

James Pegzzella a former flagman at the Fifth avenue crossing of the New York and Long Branch railroad at Asbury Park lies ill at his home 919 Conkiuan avenue with a heavy cold that has rendered him blind. A Long Branch Italian physician says Pegzzella will likely recover vision within the next week. Pegzzella recently worked along the Allenhurst depot. District Superintendent Rev. Dax John Handley of Ocean Grove will hold the fourth quarterly conference at St Luke's Church next Saturday at 7 o'clock. Written reports will be made by the departments. Dr Handley will preach at St Luke's Church next Sunday morning at 10 40.

Board of Trade set to finalize Lincoln Day dinner plans

Fine Steel Tower To Be Built Here

An eighty five foot steel tower with a forty foot flag staff will replace the wrecked Long Branch tower from Christmas night. The new tower will extend the range for observed warnings. Nichols of the United States Weather Bureau visited to inspect and arrange display from a temporary support until the tower is built. The weather bureau station here has operated for seventeen years with low wreck and strain rates along the coast.

Comet Visible Over Long Branch in Notable Display

Last evening Lone Bratch witnessed a brilliant new comet discovered by Professor Innes of Johannesburg. The tail extended clearly and the head faded by 6 15, with observers saying it was the brightest sight on record. It will be visible in the early evening for several days if skies remain clear.

Chicago dispatch reports Deputy Federal Marshals raided packing firm offices at the stock yards serving subpoenas on employees for a federal grand jury investigation of the beef trust.
