Widow dies from oxalic acid by mistaken medicine
Mrs. Perrine a 57 year old widow of Freehold died after ingesting oxalic acid mistaken for Rochelle salts. Miss Cornelia Pentle of Trenton her visiting sister prepared the medicine. Coroner Bennett ruled accidental poisoning. Survived by four children Perrine Newark Raymond Jersey City Stanley Freehold Helen.

New Jersey considers 1,500 mile state highway system and bonds
In Trenton on January 23 Senator Gaunt of Gloucester introduced bills to issue 10 million dollars in bonds and build a 1500 mile state highway system. The measures abolish current departments and create a new State Highway Commission with a four year term and five thousand dollar salary. A constitutional submission to voters is required. The Senate discussed road needs, noting estimates of 2.5 million dollars needed this year to protect improved roads. A separate bill grants non residents with compliant auto laws a fifteen day motor privilege annually.

Fire damages nets in West End field after suspected spark
Patrolman Ernest F. Dodd reports a fire in a vacant Sairs avenue field where James Cunningham pound nets were drying. Firemen quickly fought the blaze but about 200 dollars of damage occurred. investigators suspect a spark from a passing engine ignited tar covered nets. Narrow escape for Red Bank ice yacht skipper Gull
Daniel Asay of Catherine street Red Bank owner and skipper of the third class ice yacht Gull had a narrow brush with death about 1130 this morning. A northwest wind made ideal ice boating conditions and Asay was on the Gull when a rope or knot failure caused the mast to break. He suffered bruises but plans to return to the ice with his boat in a few days. A photographer captured the moment as the mast toppled during a high speed run.

St James Church site sold for new business venture
