Early morning in Red Bank near Monmouth Street, officer Bray spotted a man with two bags. After a struggle the man dropped the bags and fled, Bray fired, and a chicken died. Two officers pursued. twelve White Plymouth Rock birds were found in the bags. police expect an arrest today as the thief’s identity is known.

Missing Girls in Custody Near Long Branch Perth Amboy
Two seventeen year old girls Hia Grant and Julia Attison were found on the streets of Perth Amboy about eight o'clock and detained overnight awaiting disposition. Police head quarters reported contact with Perth Amboy authorities and a Mr Grant planned to travel to Perth Amboy to bring them home. The girls left home Wednesday of last week and wore no wearing apparel. Detective Walling coordinated with Asbury Park and Perth Amboy as the search continued.

Verdict Against McKenna Set Aside for New Trial
In Trenton on January 12 the New Jersey Supreme Court, Justice Parker, set aside the verdict against Thomas P. McKenna in Joseph A. Duffy's suit for deceit in selling stock and bond privileges in the North American Lumber & Pulp Co. A new trial was ordered, the court ruling that without evidence of broker receipt value the lower court should have directed nominal damages. Duffy had paid $10,000 for twenty allotments and claimed McKenna misrepresented land holdings and revenue.

Horse and buggy struck by trolley in Red Bank
A horse and buggy carrying Aaron Sutphen and his housekeeper was struck by a trolley on Shrewsbury avenue near River Street Red Bank. The woman was badly bruised while Sutphen was uninjured. Dr Sayre treated the woman and she was later carried home. The trolley crew claimed Sutphen crossed the track. The horse bolted but was recovered.
