Borough councilman discovers a poker game halted when burglars entered an unoccupied parsonage. The players fled as the break in interrupted the session. Investigators search for suspects and secure the scene.
Lights and moving figures spotted at Rev E L Fox cottage in Atlantic Highlands trigger a late night response by Councilman Morris and a borough special officer. A dozen citizens armed with weapons gathered inside before orders to leave were given. A preliminary reprimand was issued. no charges filed.
The X. L. yacht, skippered by Carl Mihm, won the Vreeland twenty four hour pennant in a northwest gale. The Spud and Blind Buick did not race, while the Taterbug took second and Spider placed third after a close finish. The race featured slippery conditions but good overall speeds. A second pennant race was planned for this afternoon.
William Card of Navesink attended the Red Bank ice carnival last Saturday carrying 1060 dollars saved over eight to ten years. He misplaced his wallet during shopping and the fire carnival, fearing a bank run, hopes someone found and returns the pocketbook with its contents.

Attendees enjoyed a program at the First Baptist Church last night at 7 30. The concert featured organ preludes hymns solos and quartets including Jerusalem and the Ninety and Nine with the choir and soloists led by Prof. Harold A. Laros and Mrs Bronson Butler. The offering benefits regular church services.
The Rev. Dr. Joseph K. Manning longtime pastor of First Baptist Red Bank died early today at his daughter Mrs. Thomas W. Trenchard home in Trenton after pleuring and pneumonia. He will have a private funeral in Trenton with a public service in Red Bank and interment in Fair View cemetery Middletown. He served as pastor at Red Bank 1883 to 1897 and earlier led Cape May and Keyport churches. He leaves two sons Dr. Frank L Manning and Postmaster Louis Y Manning. He was about 71 years old born Mount Pleasant NJ and educated in Flemington and Bethlehem NJ. He also pastored Calvary Trenton and Woodbury churches and served on Peddle Institute trustees.
Senator John W. Slocum sponsors a bill to provide East Monmouth Court facilities if passed by the Assembly. The measure has backing from the New Shore League and was originally drafted by ex Judge Wilbur A. Heisley at a East Monmouth League meeting.
Senate passes known as Branch Court Bill No 122 authorizing Monmouth County to issue bonds up to 100000 for courthouse land and building. Bonds bear up to 5 percent interest for 30 years with sinking fund and tax levies. Bill drafted after Hast Monmouth League meeting and includes temporary borrowing and bid requirements.
Mrs Buryha Aly died at home on Murray Street Freehold in her fortieth year after six months with an unknown illness endured at Monmouth Memorial Hospital Long Branch where she trained as a nurse. Funeral at her home at 2 p.m. tomorrow, burial in Greenwood Cemetery. She leaves four brothers and three sisters, and was a 1900 graduate of the hospital training school. her class was the second to graduate. A Broadway Theatre ad note follows.
Fire Chief Kingsland reported an attempted incendiary tie near the rear entrance of the Italian bake shop on Jeffrey Street. Early morning discovery of kerosene odor and scorched porch suggested the fire burned out, with the motive tied to a recent fatal quarrel between two brothers.
Hundreds from across the state converge on Trenton to push a yeard suffrage amendment. The Assembly Chamber overflows as speakers include Corneline Ford George M Lamonte Mrs Everett Colby and Rev Dr Anna Howard Shaw in support of the measure.

The Red Bank Borough Council unanimously endorses a bill for a New Jersey equal suffrage amendment. Mrs Ritter and Mrs White lead the effort through the Hed Hawk Equal Suffrage Club, urging Senator and Assemblymen from Monmouth County to vote for the measure.
