Christmas Jubilee at Simpson M E Church

The Simpson M E Sunday school held its annual Christmas jubilee in the church auditorium drawing a large crowd despite threatening weather. Santa Claus distributed gifts as the Primary department staged songs and readings followed by stereopticon views of the life of Christ. Awards were given to scholars and teachers, including a gold mounted umbrella for Harry Van Cleaf and a brass desk outfit for Superintendent Charles W Blakeslee.

Former resident dies suddenly after Christmas illness

Word arrived of the sudden death of Mrs. Edward Zelley nee Miss Faye Bennett age 25 born in this city. She fell gravely ill with paralysis after Christmas on a visit to Trenton with relatives and died last night. She leaves a husband two young children and parents in Dunbar avenue along with a list of relatives in Plainfield and this city. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.

An adjourned session of Red Bank Mayor and Councilmen held at Borough Hall to close the year. All attended except Councilman Geo Brower who is ill. Bicycle Thief Arrested in West Red Bank

John Cogdell, boarding at George Dawson's West Red Bank home, was arrested Monday for stealing Dawson's bicycle. He tried to sell it to two Italians, one for four dollars and the other for eight. Dewson alerted police. Petelle and Fields arrested Cornell. He was held on $300 bail awaiting grand jury action.

Horse Killed by Trolley in Red Bank Accident

A horse pulling a farm wagon was instantly killed when struck by a Monmouth County Electric trolley car in Red Bank on Shrewsbury avenue near Sunset and West Side. Conductor Stephen Aumack and motorman James Daly were aboard. occupants of the wagon Raymond Dubrinski his wife and two children plus Frank Schindler were uninjured though the wagon damaged. Daly claimed Dubrinski appeared drunk and pulled the wrong rein, turning the horse in front of the car.

Secrecy Over Assembly Office Increase Sparks Caucus Debate

In Trenton on December 27, Republicans kept caucus details secret amid discussion of boosting minor offices by up to 10000 dollars. Long Branch Society to Distribute Warm Clothing All Winter

A meeting of the Long Branch Society for the Improvement of the Poor decided to keep the receiving and distributing stations open all winter. Ladies will meet every Tuesday Thursday and Saturday afternoon to sort display goods and make bed coverings. Donations of discarded garments and funds are encouraged to aid needy families and emergency cases. Toys sent to the station were distributed to children for Christmas.
