Captain Robert Lewis of 498 Bath Avenue fell from a second story window onto the frozen ground Saturday night and lay in his night clothes for over three hours before discovery. He was bruised, bleeding, and unable to move, with the open window blamed for the fall. He was tended by Dr. James Chasey. his wife Lillie Krismeyer was in New York.

Blaze destroys Linden mansion at Water Witch in Middle Town
A three story summer residence owned by Augustus Linden in Water Witch, near Highlands, was totally destroyed by a late night fire discovered around 8:30. The $25,000 property and furnishings were fully lost, with insurance covering the loss. Nearby estates of Gen Charles W. Raymond and Fred B. Hill were scorched but saved, as Navesink fire crews battled the blaze and prevented further damage. The origin remains undetermined. Otis Harlan, a summer resident, is in town managing the property and preparing for an engagement in Philadelphia.

Five Hurled From Car In Embankment Crash
A touring car owned by Lt Raymond Eisner of Red Bank plunged over a 12 foot embankment near South Amboy early yesterday. All occupants were thrown out but escaped serious injury. Eldredge, 19, jailed then released after Wisner declined to press charges. companions named include Valleau Bennett Duncan Wymbe and Brodel. The group had taken liquor and driven from Freehold to Matawan then to South Amboy before the crash. Eisner and his father run a government uniform factory in Red Bank.

John VanBrant a 75 year old veteran of Van derburg was found dead at his home this morning. Detective William D Walling arrested three juvenile offenders this morning. Harold Front 16 is accused of holding up a young lady on Chelsea avenue last night with a gun. Two bicycle thieves are Peter O Donnell 16 and Mike Penlia 14. O Donnell’s bicycle was found at Charles Bennetts home and Mike Penlia is held for stealing a wheel from Woodbridge Beach. All three dined well at City Hall and will be arraigned this afternoon or tomorrow.
