Roosevelt speech at Osawatomie outlines platform and candidacy

Roosevelt arrived amid a fierce storm in Osawatomie Kansas at 9 25 am and received a huge reception. In a later address he sketched his platform and effectively declared his bid for president. He highlighted two great crises in U S history and praised John Brown and Kansas for shaping democratic government. The speech touched on national unity and the moral complexities of revolution with a forward focus on progress and justice. (Continued on Eighth Page.)

Boy Hit By Auto Likely To Die In Nutley Ocean Grove

Hartley Clements seven years old son of W H Clements Nutley N J was seriously hurt by an automobile at Ocean Grove and lies in a critical condition with a fractured skull. The car was owned by Frank K Thompson of Philadelphia and driven by Charles Burton, a chauffeur. Witnesses said the boy ran into the road and there was no time to avoid the collision.

All Day Labor Day Shoot at Long Branch Club

Long Branch Gun Club hosts an all day event on Labor Day September 5 at Oakwood avenue grounds with ten shoot events. Man Removed After Illness From Ocean Grove Home

John Galliver of Cookman avenue Ocean Grove was removed from his home last evening to Monmouth Memorial Hospital and admitted to the surgical ward. The trip was made in the Bodine ambulance.

A swap social will be held tomorrow evening in the lecture room of the First Baptist Church with free admission. Bicycle Relay Race At Long Branch Draws Small Field

Bicycle riders gathered for a 12 mile relay organized by the Long Branch Cycle Club. Oakley Hance led his team to victory in 39 minutes, with Willard Sawyer and Warren Beebe. A. Heiles placed second twelve seconds back, while Frank Miller anchored the third team thirty seconds behind. J. M. Franklin, a former Eisner tailor, plans to open a newer tailoring shop on Red Bank’s Monmouth street.

Highlands Carnival Opens With Three Day Festivities

Highlands prepares for a grand three day carnival with decorated stores, hotels, and homes. A parade of business men and floats opens tomorrow at 1 30 pm followed by the crowning of the queen at Twin Light rink. Friday features a cross country run and a children's parade. Spectators will view most of the 21 mile race from the rink and Bay Avenue end.
