Opening Carnival Day Draws 10000 Crowds and Smooth Parade
The first day of the 1912 carnival passed without a mishap as ideal weather drew crowds along Ocean Avenue and surrounding streets. Over ten thousand lined the boulevards plus grandstand spectators while the Long Branch Military Band performed for those in the grandstand. Parade marshals led the industrial displays from Norwood and Bath avenues and Broadway near the fountain, with orderly police and few vacant boxes signaling a likely grand success.

Robbery at Little Silver Post Office Heavily Damaged Safe
The Little Silver post office on Church street was broken into early today with nitro glycerine, blowing the new safe to pieces and scattering fragments into an adjacent yard. Ainsworth pennies were taken from a drawer in the adjoining store run by Frank Sherwood. Neighbors heard the blast. Elias Black fired his revolver to wake residents. No money was taken from the safe. the incident is under investigation.

Referendum Galed On Long Branch SUNY Ordinance

Red Bank Boy Scout Hurt At Camp Diamond Fall
Sixteen year old Brain Francis Copeland son of Mr and Mrs Copeland of Peters Place Red Bank fell from a tree near Camp Diamond Water Witch Atlantic Highlands landing on the back of his head. He was unconscious and taken to Monmouth Memorial Hospital where doctors found a slight concussion and he was reported to be rapidly recovering. Copeland was part of a Red Bank Boy Scouts group spending a week at the camp.

Woman Run Down By Auto On Bath Avenue
Mrs Joseph Rongo of Springdale avenue narrowly escaped serious injury when struck by an automobile owned by Mr Johnson of Batontown while crossing Bath avenue near the site of a recent fatal accident. She suffered a laceration to the forehead with bruises to her body and limbs. the driver was cited by witnesses as not speeding. The vehicle reportedly halted after the impact and the injured woman later returned home.
