Shore Club Feasts Queen and Court

Queen Elizabeth III and royal party are to be entertained for a fortnight with a series of receptions, dances, and theatre events. Invitations were accepted after a parade, with auto conveyances to Shore Club and planned dances at Hotel Pannaci and Hollywood Hotel. Several entertainments are scheduled through late August as the carnival year continues. A separate note records Mrs Pollack fined $2 for exposing garbage at her Chelsea Avenue boarding house.

Atlantic Ave Bridge Upgrade Sought by Ice Boat Club

A meeting of the Freeholders considered raising the Atlantic Avenue bridge over Lane's Creek in Long Branch to gain ten feet of clearance. Commodore Charles L. Edwards of the South Shrewsbury Ice Boat and Yacht Club petitioned the change, noting a new club house and local property owners’ desire to improve the river.

Champions to Meet Here 100 Yard Run in Athletic Contests

Tomorrow's athletic meet promises excitement with a featured 100 yard race between Alvar T. Meyer Olympic and Canadian champion and A. H. Drew of Springfield High School holder of the Olympic record. Meyer placed second to Craig in Stockholm with a near foot deficit as Craig equaled the Olympic mark. Several other Olympic champions are noted to attend. Ocobah Park Theatre offers daily motion pictures. The Casino hosts a masquerade ball Friday night with all features.

Annual Firemen Parade Opens Carnival in Long Branch

The Long Branch carnival opens with a parade by the fire department featuring nine companies led by Chief Charles E. Brown. Oceanic and Neptune crews display full regalia and equipment while West Long Branch guests ride aboard. Foreman J. R. Slocum and others receive honors as spectators cheer along Madison Avenue and Broadway.

Opening Carnival Day Draws 10000 Crowds and Smooth Parade

The first day of the 1912 carnival passed without a mishap as ideal weather drew crowds along Ocean Avenue and surrounding streets. Over ten thousand lined the boulevards plus grandstand spectators while the Long Branch Military Band performed for those in the grandstand. Parade marshals led the industrial displays from Norwood and Bath avenues and Broadway near the fountain, with orderly police and few vacant boxes signaling a likely grand success.

Fireworks display draws huge Ocean avenue crowd

A night of fireworks and band concert packed Ocean avenue with a dense crowd along the grandstand. Long Branch enjoyed an animated scene with cars lining the boulevard and receipts exceeding last year as new aerial bombs and set pieces lit the sky. The event, marked as novel by attendees, continued to a third page.

County Tax Boards of New Jersey Organized

Trenton August 15 The Association of County Tax Boards of New Jersey was organized to improve general tax matters statewide. Officers elected President Wirman Middle Sex Vice President Deveraux Monmouth Treasurer Andrew Kinney Somerset. The meeting highlighted tax reforms and reported thousands of dollars in property escaping taxation annually due to missing tax maps delinquent assessors and political influence in assessments.

Fourth annual masquerade ball linked to Long Branch carnival to be held at the Casino tonight at 9:30. Queen and royal family in costume expected. Keansburg Carnival Crowned Two Local Winners

Keansburg carnival results were announced by Jack Martin with James B. Carson named king by 20 396 votes and Miss Marion Johnson of Newark chosen queen by 21 079. Carson praised by the crowd as a noted actor and songwriter. coronation set for New Point Comfort Beach pavilion tonight.

Robbery at Little Silver Post Office Heavily Damaged Safe

The Little Silver post office on Church street was broken into early today with nitro glycerine, blowing the new safe to pieces and scattering fragments into an adjacent yard. Ainsworth pennies were taken from a drawer in the adjoining store run by Frank Sherwood. Neighbors heard the blast. Elias Black fired his revolver to wake residents. No money was taken from the safe. the incident is under investigation.

Referendum Galed On Long Branch SUNY Ordinance

A petition with 560 qualified electors of Long Branch protests the Sunday ordinance aimed at vice and immorality. Attorney Harold Morford files the remonstrance urging City Commissioners to reconsider or submit the measure to electors at the general or a special municipal election. The group claims at least 15 percent of last election’s vote supports the protest and notes 250 signatures needed to proceed.

Red Bank Boy Scout Hurt At Camp Diamond Fall

Sixteen year old Brain Francis Copeland son of Mr and Mrs Copeland of Peters Place Red Bank fell from a tree near Camp Diamond Water Witch Atlantic Highlands landing on the back of his head. He was unconscious and taken to Monmouth Memorial Hospital where doctors found a slight concussion and he was reported to be rapidly recovering. Copeland was part of a Red Bank Boy Scouts group spending a week at the camp.

Secretary of State Crater Guest of Honor at Shore Dinner

Secretary of State David S. Crater was guest of honor at a shore dinner and sail from Sea Bright to Pleasure Bay aboard the yachts Tootsie and Record. The event, hosted by Charles L. Edwards and P Hall Packer, featured speeches by Crater and county and railroad officials, with a jovial after dinner program and a large attendance.

Woman Run Down By Auto On Bath Avenue

Mrs Joseph Rongo of Springdale avenue narrowly escaped serious injury when struck by an automobile owned by Mr Johnson of Batontown while crossing Bath avenue near the site of a recent fatal accident. She suffered a laceration to the forehead with bruises to her body and limbs. the driver was cited by witnesses as not speeding. The vehicle reportedly halted after the impact and the injured woman later returned home.
