Auto Crash in Fair Haven Involves Red Bank Party

A high speed collision in Fair Haven in front of Dr. George VanVorts Warner’s office damaged a Maxwell runabout owned by Miss Maud Leonard and driven by Harry R. Schmidt. Passengers include Miss Marguerite Brown and Miss Mary Morris, both badly injured, while bakery wagon driver Joseph Lorenz and companion Theodore Flinn escaped with minor injuries. Schmidt left the scene and later claimed help to tow the wrecked car. The injured were hospitalized at Monmouth Memorial as of this morning.

Speeding Chauffeur Fined 100 in Red Bank Crash Case

Andrew Jones, a Black chauffeur for Thomas F. Bowers of Market Street Newark, was fined 100 dollars plus costs 10262 by Justice James H. Sickles in Red Bank for speeding and causing a collision with Oliver Ramsay’s auto near Hedden's Corner Middletown Turnpike. Ramsay seeks 200 dollars damages. Bowers denies intoxication claims. Roosevelt Bowers was a passenger. Bowers family summering at Columbia Hotel Asbury Park.

Oceanfront Doll Carnival Draws 100 Entries

The Doll Carnival at the Atlantic Hotel begins at four this afternoon with over one hundred entries across six divisions including dolls and carriages children carrying dolls floats masquerades and ponies. The queen and court will ride a blue and white decorated float drawn by four ponies with Police Chief Layton and officers leading the pageant. Laurence Reed son of Mr and Mrs Edwin Reed a queen’s court member is ill and replaced by James Burner of New York. A silver cup is awarded to every child not winning a prize with fifty prizes totaling cups bicycles a Morris chair and dolls.

This year’s temperatures ranged from 10 to 77 while last year’s averages were 83 6 and 68 5.

Funeral services were held for 4 year old Wilbur Emmons who died Tuesday after a collision with a car near Bath Avenue. Rev Dr John Y Dobbins of St Luke's Church officiated. Interment followed at Glenwood Cemetery Weet Long Branch with funeral director John G Sexton in charge.

Clarence Darrow Cleared In McNamara Jury Verdict

In Los Angeles on August 17 the jury of Judge Hutton freed Clarence Darrow on the charge of bribing jurors in the McNamara murder case. The verdict came after two months of testimony and took 47 minutes to reach. Darrow and his wife reacted with emotion as the foreman announced not guilty.

Olivia Keating Dies After Illness at 62 in Long Branch

Olivia Keating of Long Branch avenue died this morning at 9 o clock after eight weeks of heart trouble. A Manchester England native aged 62 she lived in Long Branch just over a year. Survived by two children Sturley and Mary Keating the funeral will be Monday with interment directed by Hyer and Flock funeral directors.
