Doll Carnival Offers Multiple Divisions and Entries

Saturday’s Doll Carnival promises a large turnout with around 100 entries across four or more divisions. Events include doll and masquerade contests, with a potential pony division, starting at four o'clock at the Atlantic Hotel. Local participants and ages span many Long Branch and Belmar names, with notice of a carnival week schedule and related activities at Ocean Park and nearby venues.

Coronation Ball Graces Hollywood Hotel in Long Branch

A grand coronation at the Hollywood Hotel Cedar Avenue Long Branch drew guests despite threatening weather. Queen Mercedes tum led a court through a formal ceremony with guards flower girls maids and a crown bearer Harvey Dudley Leuin. Mayor Newcomb presented the city’s freedom to Miss Crom and a varied program of dances and vocal selections followed in a festive ball featuring spectators and former queens.

Band Concert Program For Today And Tonight

The Long Branch Mary Band led by William 3B Er ickson presents an afternoon and evening concert at the grand stand. The program lists marches, overtures, waltzes, and novelty numbers, with sections for Colt Armory, Spirit of Independence, Second Reg, and Semper Fidelis. An evening fire works display is also noted.

Industrial parade planned with bands and prizes

The Industrial parade will start at 2 PM with three divisions and decorated entries from Norwood, Bath, and Broadway. A large turnout is expected, with judges, marshals, and a nearby Fremens parade also at 2.00. Prizes awarded in each division.

Jersey Central Traction Trolley Franchise Granted

The Jersey Central Traction Company won its third and final crewing for a franchise to lay tracks and run cars over the Goose Neck draw bridge on the South Shrewsbury river. Proposals call for parallel tracks near the existing bridge, with cars crossing the draw. Rufus Merritt of Red Bank thanked the Freeholders for the approval.
