Sneak Thieves Steal Jewelry and Money at Pavilion Ave Home

Mrs. Mary Handschneh away briefly Saturday evening allowed intruders to force a bathroom entry and ransack three sons rooms. About eighteen dollars found in John Handschneh’s room. loss includes a $50 gold watch and jewelry. The tin box with papers was opened and scattered. They escaped via cellar window after grandchild Elizabeth Surles alerted them. No suspects identified.

Injured Boy’s Birthday Observed at Hospital

Warren Fromme aged thirteen from Deal celebrated his birthday at Monmouth Memorial Hospital where he has been a patient since Wednesday. George Burnett, twelve, also hospitalized remains unconscious in serious condition. Warren is recovering and due to be discharged soon. Planing Mill Busy in Joint Operation with Partners

The Edwards Lumber and Coal Co. planing mill, active until last week by Davis Smith Lumber and Coal Co., now runs at full capacity in a joint venture with Buchanan and Smock Co. Davis Smith reports new millwork contracts while Buchanan and Smock use part of the Edwards mill until their Asbury Park mill is rebuilt.

Lighthouse Keeper's Serenades End in Mental Health Row

John Dahlman keeper at Conover's Beacon near Atlantic Highlands caused alarm by nightly singing. He was confined, examined by doctors, and ordered sent to the State hospital at Trenton for paretic dementia. Dahlman, born Otto Doederleon in 1867, has a varied history including Navy service and lighthouse postings. He is married with three children.

Labor Day plan to drive Long Branch pier piling

Announcement said the first piling for the new ocean pier at Long Branch would be driven Labor Day afternoon at two o’clock. Ceremonies were planned with a band, and Governor John Franklin Fort and other state officials were hoped to attend. Eleven Carnival Crooks Arrested

Eleven carnival crooks were arrested Saturday on Ocean avenue and faced Recorder Van Doren. Harry Ferdinand and William Sachs pleaded not guilty after identification from New York rogues gallery. They were sentenced to ninety days in county jail. Other suspects from Pleasure Bay and a river carnival case also appeared. one Italian man testified about a lost gold watch.
