i Carl Switzer of the Our Gang comedies is recuperating after emergency appendectomy. Switzer who portrayed Alfalfa in early films underwent surgery Sunday at Temple Hospital.
The International Parade of Stars vaudeville revue starring George Jessel will be at 7:15 p.m. Friday in Municipal Auditorium. Long Beach Pyramid No. 44 of the Sciots sponsors, with proceeds aiding local Masonic charitable programs. Cast includes Patricia Lynn, Egor and Miral, the Black Brothers, locals from Long Beach. The Sciots child welfare committee plans to take underprivileged children to the show. Joseph M. Kennick, Long Beach Juvenile Department head, is honorary chairman.
Mary Hill 24 a dancer and television actress attempted suicide by taking about 15 sleeping pills on Monday night authorities said. Despondent over recent work drought she has appeared in more than 30 motion pictures. After hospital treatment she was turned over to her sister Carole Westman.
The Japan News reports two World War II kamikaze themed films nearing completion and a third in production. The latest title is Brave, Heroic Kamikaze Special Attack Corps, reflecting Japan's war role with in-Japanese filmmakers at work on these projects.

The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet will not be heard on ABC radio this year due to a Hollywood school plan affecting 11 year old stars David and Ricky Nelson. Ozzie and Harriet Nelson say they want the boys’ schooling and activities respected, with contracts allowing the children to quit if work becomes burdensome. Production times and schedules are arranged around the boys’ school, football candidacy, and holidays, including a Europe trip this summer. The family intends to keep TV work but not at the expense of the boys’ education and private lives.

Terneen, formed in 1945 by Phil L. Ryan and partners, dissolved after one film with assets distributed before dividends. Taxes in dispute amount to about $75,000.
Barbara Rush says she will seek a divorce within a month from actor Jeffrey Hunter. They have been apart due to busy work, with Rush under Universal-International contract and Hunter at 20th Century-Fox. They married in December 1950 in Boulder City, Nevada.
