Magsaysay Party Wins a Sweeping Philippine Election Victory
Manila reports a sweeping Nacionalista triumph led by President Ramon Magsaysay as voters chose 9 Senate seats 32 provincial governorships and many local offices. Liberal losses included Sen. Claro M. Recto dropping to sixth place amid party tensions. Casualties rose to 36 with 112 wounded during the campaign and celebrations.
