Surprise A Tests Start Next Week in Nevada
LAS VEGAS Nev March 28 The Atomic Energy Commission announced a new spring series of atomic tests at the Nevada site with civilian defense emphasis. AEC warned unauthorized personnel to vacate the area by week’s end. Newsmen were invited to a Monday briefing and the tests are slated to occur throughout April at Yucca Flat. The move excludes testing dramatic innovations, with potential future work at Eniwetok. Ranchers miners and others were told to leave and airspace was to be cleared by the Air Force and Civil Aeronautics Administration.

Steel Peace Predicted by Mobilizer Wilson

Fire Fatal to Three of Texas Family
A farm home fire in Rhome Texas early today killed three members of the Oscar Watkins family and left three critically burned. Victims include a four month old infant and two girls aged 10 and 23. Names not learned yet. Critically burned are Roy 4 Elizabeth 6 and the mother Mrs Oscar Watkins about 40. A kerosene heated chicken brooder apparently exploded. Watkins worked at an aircraft plant in Fort Worth.

Escaped wounded GI recalls Chinese ambush in Korea
Private first class Brice Martin of Montague California described being wounded by a grenade and killed in his patrol. He played dead after Chinese soldiers stripped him of watch dog tags and cigarettes, then crawled toward Allied lines as two groups passed. Lt John W. Turcotte and medics found him.

An 18 month old boy, Alexander Nelson, wandered from home at 410 Monrovia Ave and drowned in Colorado Lagoon. His mother Mrs. Robert F. Nelson searched and dived to reach him but firemen could not revive him. The Nelson family includes Forest and Neil. Body taken to B. W. Coon Mortuary.

Five Die as Reds Back Soviet Germ Charge in Tehran

Tenth Traffic Death of Year Occurs Here
A collision between a motor car driven by John Bowers and a southbound oil tanker on Hill Street near Orange Avenue in Long Beach killed the 69 year old driver.
