Stenographer Admits She Slew Girl 14
In New York a 25 year old Massachusetts stenographer Mildred McDonald of Somerville sobbing admitted to killing 14 year old Mary Di Recce, sister of her former boyfriend. McDonald shot the girl five times and slashed her throat before burning parts of the body in the Di Recce home. She waived extrajudicial proceedings in general sessions court and was turned over to Massachusetts authorities to face a murder charge. Patrolman George F Grace arrested her after recognizing her from an Associated Press wirephoto.

Store Man Shot in Leg by Bandit
A 31 year old liquor store proprietor was shot in the leg late Tuesday night during a struggle with a holdup man who fired three shots. The bandit fled after the victim fell wounded. Fremont S. Haneline of 4219 E Fourth St described the assailant as a young man with long blond hair wearing a blue sport coat light pants and a tan straw hat. The revolver, stolen two weeks earlier from a local sporting goods store, was dropped outside the shop. Haneline was taken to St Marys Hospital for surgery and sedatives. His brother Roy Haneline reported no apparent cash loss. Police continue to investigate the motive and whether the bandit acted alone.
