The Supreme Military Council handed down life terms to six other naval officers and a 16-year-old boy who lay unconscious for hours after the water tower fall. A heavy rainfall in Colorado caused flooding across about 1 10,000 acres southeast of Brush and near Beaver Creek. Basements flooded and at least 150 farm families were left homeless. A woman from Marion Indiana drowned. The Great Western Sugar plant was sandbagged to keep out floodwaters. parts of the business district also protected. A separate cloudburst near Colorado Springs stranded about 300 tourists and caused damage in the thousands.
