Truman Finances Improve After White House Term Ends
AP reports former President Harry S. Truman will likely be financially better off after leaving the White House. He has drawn 100000 a year since 1949 plus a 50000 annual tax free allowance, up from earlier salaries. He also faced possible debt in 1947, but the 1949 raise improved his outlook as he returns to private life without a federal pension or retroactive Senate plan.
