The sheriff�s office reports a diamond wrist watch valued at 750 dollars disappeared from Jeanne Bruce of Vandenberg Village. A thief or thieves caused 1200 dollars damage stealing radios and tape decks from Sunset Chevrolet vehicles. Police continue investigations this week.
Funeral services for Harvey T. Betty 53 will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lompoc Funeral Home chapel with Rev. W. Murray Gibbons and Lompoc Moose Lodge 1036 officiating. Interment in Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery with full military honors. Betty, a 23 year McDonnell Douglas employee and Lompoc resident since 1967, left a wife Evelyne and children Harry S., Lorraine, plus siblings and Moose and Legion affiliations. Gilbert R. Martinez 53 died this morning at Lompoc District Hospital with services pending at Starbuck Mortuary. Cristi L. Gibbs 17, of Lompoc, died Tuesday in Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. graveside rites Thursday 10:30 a.m. at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery with pastor Michael Chandler officiating. Gibbs, a Lompoc High School graduate active in student council, is survived by parents Robert and Mrs Gibbs, brothers Craig and Kurt, sister Caree, and grandparents. Arrangements by Starbuck Mortuary.
Michael Wootton, campaign manager for Congressman Lagomarsino, confirms four more October joint appearances with opponent, bringing fall total to five and citing a Santa Barbara debate on August 29 as part of the campaign. Wootton attacks Sisson's debate challenge as a publicity stunt and notes Lagomarsino's Washington duties. A county Human Services Commission is being formed with all five supervisors appointing three members each to advise on Title XX funds and public input on health mental health probation and community development.
The National Council on Alcoholism NCA an independent United Fund agency provides counseling for alcoholics and spouses directs to treatment centers and Alcoholics Anonymous and refers families to social agencies.
