Campbell loses out on moratorium
Former County Supervisor Veril Campbell, a Lompoc Valley rancher, failed in his bid for a county property tax moratorium. Assistant County Counsel Dana D. Smith ruled the request would be futile since the State Board of Equalization could enforce assessments if the county does not. Campbell sought tax payments based on 1968-69 assessments rather than 1969-70 for north county taxpayers who led a revolt earlier this year.
