Council turns down one trailer park plan

Lompoc City Attorney to Work at 35 Hourly Rate

City officials disclosed that resigning Thousand Oaks lawyer Jim Longtin will be paid 35 per hour plus expenses for Lompoc city matters. He must not exceed his former 22 000 yearly salary, despite averaging 30 to 40 hours weekly here, with an estimate of more than 13 hours weekly needed to reach his old pay at that rate.

Valley bike trail plan unveiled for Lompoc Valley

A Santa Barbara County bikepath plan for the Lompoc Valley faces a public hearing September 26 by the Planning Commission at 123 East Anapama Street. The plan seeks amendment to the Amended General Plan for Land Use and Circulation for the Lompoc Valley area, with written comments accepted.

Former DJ Decker Arrested After Hospital Release

Lawrence Decker, ex radio disc jockey from Lompoc, was arrested on 15 counts of sexual perversion and two counts of assault on officers after leaving Marian Hospital. He is jailed in Santa Maria with bail set at 27000 dollars and facing arraignment in Lompoc Justice Court tomorrow. Decker was shot in the head on Miguelito Canyon Road on August 14 during a deputy and detective attempt to subdue him when the service revolver discharged accidentally.

Roosevelt Denies Bahama Prime Minister Killing Plot

Louis Mastriana testified to a Senate subcommittee that Elliott Roosevelt and Mike McClaney offered $100,000 in 1968 to kill Lynden Pindling, prime minister of the Bahamas. Roosevelt, a former Miami Beach mayor, said the story is a lie and that Mastriana embezzled funds.

Gas Stations in SLO County Prepare to Reopen

Most gasoline stations in San Luis Obispo County were expected to reopen today after a mass Tuesday closure by operators protesting Phase 4 price controls. The Automobile Club of Southern California urged motorists headed north on U S 101 to refuel in Morro Bay or other nearby cities before crossing the county.

White House denies pressure on Agnew over resignation

White House spokesman Gerald L. Warren said Nixon and aides have not pressured Vice President Spiro Agnew to resign and called reports otherwise false. He noted no presidential support statements while the Agnew probe is handled by the attorney general. A source close to Agnew said the VP would fight the pressure rather than step aside.
