Evening school registration opens for varied courses
Adults may register this week in the district evening school for courses from space age electronics to swimming for non swimmers. The program includes digital computer fundamentals digital devices and applications advanced investment seminar practical English and a radiotelephone permit plus woodworking and art classes. Richard Miller of Lompoc won best of show at the Northern Santa Barbara Coin show with other Lompoc residents winning in specialized coin categories and medals.

Equalization board approves tax reductions for Sunbird and GM sites
The County Board of Equalization opened hearings on hundreds of appeals and approved stipulations reducing market values for two Sunbird Mines areas north of Santa Barbara and General Motors land near Santa Maria. Sunbird mineral rights dropped from 717 420 to 391 760 while GM land value fell from 2 262 000 to 1 196 000. improvements unchanged. The board cited market declines, higher costs, and unstable ground and airport noise limits as reasons for the reduced values.
