Jordan crisis and hostages spark international warnings

Convicts file $3 million damage suit over San Quentin conditions

Mitchell links campus bombings to organized groups

Attorney General John N. Mitchell said recent city and campus bombings are the work of organized groups aiming to disrupt the nation. He met with nine Midwest city officials, declined to name suspects, and stressed pursuing individual terrorists. An UW building bombing killed a graduate student and caused $6 million in damage. four men face FBI charges but remain at large. Nixon urged an uncompromising stand against destruction.

Communists offer revised peace plan at Vietnam talks

At the 84th Vietnam peace talks Mme Nguyen Thi Binh proposed a provisional coalition government for Saigon with elections to follow. The Viet Cong would halt attacks on U S troops if Nixon orders a complete withdrawal by June 30 1971 and would join a coalition excluding three top Saigon leaders.

Couple sentenced for grand theft tied to credit card fraud

Kitty Tucker and Robert Forster of Lompoc received five years probation after pleading guilty to one count of felony grand theft. Judge Arden Jensen ordered them to repay $3,000 and pay $1,000 fines each, with no jail time pending probation completion. Police had arrested them last June on 11 counts. remaining charges were dismissed.

Violence erupts at Mexican Independence Day parade in LA

In Los Angeles 4000 young Chicanos clashed with police sending 65 people to jail and injuring more than 50, including 38 officers. A deputy and two civilians were shot by snipers while several officers sustained nonfatal injuries.
