Alpine rock decapitated by blast in Turtle Rock Park dispute
A carved turtle rock in Alpine County was blasted headless after a move to Turtle Rock Park was approved by the Alpine County Historical Society. Deputy Archie Woods Jr. warned of danger, while contractor James Coburn completed most of the move work and a reward fund was started for clues.

Tropical storm Felice hits Texas border with heavy rains
Felice swept ashore near the Texas Louisiana line Tuesday night delivering over six inches of rain to Galveston Texas. A cooling trend spread across the upper Midwest while 70 degree readings returned to the northern Rockies and snow fell into the weekend with teens in places. Chicago hit 86 Tuesday with prior days lower. Kalispell Montana opened at 29 and Vero Beach Florida at 83 this morning.
